Crazy Thoughts!

We all have a to deal with our thought life.  This is one area where we must always be on the offensive.  In many cases this is where the battle is fought concerning our actions.  These scriptures help me keep my thoughts in check.  I hope at the least it gets you thinking about how important our thoughts are to God.  You don't have to allow bad thoughts to rule your life.

hope it helps.

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Don’t expect your mind to be washed and filled with only good and pleasant things once you’ve given your life to Christ.  Remember, you become not only a child of God but a disciple of His also.  So you must learn and grow.  Growing in Christ will start with changing the way you think.  Your mind must be renewed from the old way you use to think.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,

We have all the control as to what we do with the thoughts that enter our minds.  2 Corinthians 10:5 reminds me of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness.(Matt 4:1-11)  Everything that the enemy tried to tempt him with failed.  Because Christ used the truth of the scriptures to defuse and destroy the lie that enemy was trying to get him to believe.  That’s what it means to take every thought captive to obey Christ.  Let the truth of God’s word defuse and destroy the lies that enter your thought life.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

The bible doesn’t just tell us not to entertain the crazy thoughts but it also lets us know the things we should think about.  I don't have to work at thinking about the crazy stuff I just do.  It came with the fact that I was born into sin.  Seventeen years later I find Christ, and because I know him I want to think differently.  We must practice thinking and focusing on the good around us.

2 Timothy 1:7
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

We are capable of not acting out on the thoughts that we know we shouldn’t.  We have been given the power through God to do so. So don’t believe the lie that says you can’t help it because you can.  God has given you self-control.

Isaiah 26:3
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

Trusting in everything that God is gives me peace.  When your mind is not at peace it’s mostly because you’ve decided to take back trust in areas and have invoked your own plans.

Romans 8:5
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

A lot of times we put more focus on not doing wrong than actually doing right.  If we focus on doing what’s right we won’t have to worry about doing what’s wrong.  So set your mind on the things of the spirit and focus on that.
